It’s hard to imagine what the surf industry would be like without O’Neill. A true American surf brand since 1952, O’Neill has always led the way for innovation while never straying from their firmly grounded roots. Year after year, O’Neill continues to create fun and fresh surf clothing and technically advanced surf gear. What is comes down to is this: If you don’t know O’Neill, then you don’t know Jack. It all started when a young Jack O'Neill moved to San Francisco in the early 1950s and discovered the cold-water waves off Ocean Beach. It was there that he invented the modern day wetsuit.
Sometime around 1952, Jack opened the first Surf Shop in a garage across the Great Highway. The shop became a local gathering place, and the number of loyal surfers began to grow. By 1980, the surf shop had morphed into a thriving international company. Fast forward to present day: Jack has since stepped down from CEO to pursue his timeless love of surfing, sailing, and working on a variety of environmental projects.
