These fins are meant to take a beating while still flexing with the best of them. With a dense carbon matting the fins stay stiff at the base while tapering out providing extra flex in the tips so that you have more flex in your turns. Also with carbon strips from top to bottom you get a controlled flex throughout the fin. Worth every penny.
