I am 5'9.5" and this dress was the perfect length. It's 100% cotton and I accidently threw it in the washer and dryer. It shrunk about 3 inches or more. I loved the dress so much that I will order another one. If you're shorter and worried about the length, just wash & dry it. The fabric held up great overall. It is sheer, so think about a slip for when you go out in the sunlight, it all depends on your comfort level with burnout fabric. This is a very comfortable maxi dress and looks great on.

I do agree with the other reviewers that this is slightly sheer, but it's insanely figure flattering as well. I wore it with a nude tank dress underneath and a thin belt to give it a little more shape at the waist. The burnout/slub fabric is super comfy, and gives it a little more texture than a plain jersey. It's perfect for traveling: comfotable, chic, and doesn't wrinkle.
I'm 5'9" and odered a meduim - it was the absolute perfect length for me, but if you're shorter, it's always each to cut jersey and leave a raw hem (jersey curls under, creating it's own sort of non-sew "hem")

I would only suggest wearing this if you have a bikini under and are about 5'9+ I'm short and tried this on and it was very figure flattering. Unfortunately you could see through it completely. Not so fab. Would you be great to throw on when heading to the beach and knotted at the hem.
