The colors were not as shown, and not in a way that would suggest my monitor needs color balancing, which is done regularly. Some colors showed up in the mail brighter than what was pictured; some darker; some more neon; some pinks looked orange; some pastels showed up dark and burnt; not pastel.
I was unable to find any two-piece suit shown to which you offered both a top and bottom. An entire suit might be pictured, but one half not available. Is this poorly managed web marketing? Or a way to attract customers looking for a matched, two-piece swim suit.
And If a customer can't match bottoms and tops by choosing designs from the same material, and you don't photograph your catalog to reflect colors accurately, the rate of returns for merchandise reflects it.
The first purchase I thought I had bought a light salmon-colored top, it turned out to be bright orange sherbet; and no matching briefs. I chose coordinated but not matching (I thought). By the picture the bottoms looked like they had peachy-pink fishes on blue, the fish were neon pink--no match for the bright orange sherbet top. I tried two other bottoms: no match for color.
I called to get help with color matching--she had as little information as I had: the same pictures with the same inaccuracy of color. I gave her hip measurements of 36" (I remeasured later and they're 33"). Thinking I had 36" hips, she suggested I go up to a medium in briefs. I normally wear a xs/s, and the medium briefs were still too tight. Though I'm slim and athletic, size M briefs made unattractive bulges in my silhouette; briefs 1-2 sizes larger than what's in my closet and what your clothing chart suggests. I swam competitively for years, I kayak and swim indoor/outdoor half the year, and other times live where I'm swimming, body surfing, and snorkeling. I've never had a more difficult purchasing experience.
Your catalog of clothing should reflect colors accurately. A catalog photographer would have the skill and equipment to light the product in such a way as to accurately reflect colors.
Your size-charts should not vary widely and/or be inconsistent from one manufacturer to another. They should be true to size, even if that means you have to standardize sizes manufacturers provide and create a generic or retailer-specific sizing model. Service is what distinguishes you from other methods by which people can shop for this merchandise. I hope this feedback can help to create a better service and attract repeat customers.
And your very considerate and well-meaning customer service should have more information than the customer who has called because the website didn't give enough information. I can call a friend and get as much 'additional' information as I got from customer service. Because it seemed she and I were both looking at the same information as we spoke.
I would suggest that if you have only a single item left of a piece of merchandise, it might be best listed in a clearance section. Many options I wanted to consider were in the main shopping section, but might have had one or two items left, never in my size.
Overall an extremely frustrating shopping experience.
I read the terms of agreement, which state:
"Note: We reserve the right to edit or reject reviews that include inappropriate content, profanity, references to other retailers, pricing, or personal information."
With this overly broad agreement, you have the right to redact this entire description. (How can I write a review without referencing any personal information? Simply saying, "I ordered a bathing suit top" could be deemed 'personal' and edited or rejected.) I hope instead you will consider examining methods by which swimsuit wearers can have an enjoyable shopping experience at your sight.
You may keep the incentive you offered for me to write this review. I believe it was a discount on my next purchase with your company. I won't be using it. Therefore, I fully disclose that I have not been given any of these products as gifts or otherwise been compensated in exchange for writing this review.
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery was prompt. The product arrived in good condition. I was unable to use it. Customer service was available, friendly, well-meaning, and not helpful despite all that.
