This Earth Day marks S’well’s third Earth Day Bottle Collection. It started with one special S’well design in 2017, and has since evolved to include S’ip by S’well bottles and unique programs tied to what matters most to us – ridding the world of single-use plastic bottles.
2019 marks a special moment for S’well. Not only are we asking individuals to help us reach our Million Bottle Project goal of displacing 100 million single-use plastic bottles by 2020, but we’re also highlighting beautiful bottles and amazing students who participated in our 2019 Earth Day Design Challenge, which inspired this year’s S’ip by S’well Bright Future bottle.
Hundreds of NYC public school students from Grades 1-12 shared with S’well their vision for a waste-free world. They put pen to paper to draw images and write words to inspire us all to think about how we can help sustain positive change for the world. From bottles filled with landscapes to sea animals in pristine waterways, one thing was clear – this city’s youth cares about the planet and are optimistic about the impact we can have by taking action!
Winner – Brandon, age 10 – was inspired by local street art and used this inspiration to encourage companies and people to “rethink” how we’re making and consuming products. “If we continue to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink, this is how the world can be,” said Brandon.
The 10 other honorees include Isabella (age 9) who wants to inspire “earth unicorn protectors” and Gillian (age 17) who believes there is a “feeling that we’re trapped in our current situation” but “we can break out of it.”
All proceeds from the purchase of S’ip by S’well Bright Future ($19.99) go to support NYC Department of Education’s sustainability initiatives. To learn more about this year’s honorees and see their winning entries, download our 2019 program poster here.
In addition, you can purchase Dream ($40) and start to #ReduceTheUse today, tomorrow and every day!
2019 EARTH DAY DESIGN CHALLENGE HONOREES:
STUDENTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
The 2019 Earth Day Design Challenge is part of S’well’s ongoing student sustainability initiatives. Last fall, we partnered with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Sustainability to help launch the city-led BRING IT campaign and help displace 54 million single-use plastic bottles as part of S’well’s Million Bottle Project with the help of NYC public high school students.
Thanks to the NYC Department of Education Sustainability Team for their continued support and passion to help administrators and students understand the power they have to make a difference for our planet and community.
