Sarah Kauss, Founder and Executive Chairwoman

A former tax consultant and international real estate developer, Sarah married her passion for fashion, hydration and philanthropy when she launched S’well in 2010.

As the founder of S’well and a vocal advocate for ridding the world of single-use plastic, Sarah has helped transform consumer behavior over the last decade. She has been recognized as a Fortune’s “40 Under 40” honoree and EY Entrepreneurial Winning Woman, while S’well has been named #1 Fastest-Growing, Women-Led Company by The Women Presidents’ Organization and honored with the Brand Design award by Inc. magazine.

Sarah sits on the UNICEF USA New York Regional Board and is a member of the 2018 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. She regularly shares business insights from her entrepreneurial journey at conferences around the globe and has been featured in media outlets, including NPR, CNBC, Bloomberg, GQ, Entrepreneur, Fast Company, Inc. and many more.

She holds an Accounting Degree from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Hugh joined S’well as Chief Executive Officer in February 2020. He brings invaluable experience scaling founder-legacy, consumer brands and driving transformative growth through broadened domestic and international distribution, digital expansion and development of innovative, solution-based products.

From 2013 through 2018, Hugh served as CEO at Ellery Homestyles, a leading manufacturer and distributor of Eclipse® and other private-label window curtains and fashion bedding products. From 2006 until 2012, he was CEO of Sure Fit Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of furniture slipcovers and home furnishing products. He previously held Chief Financial Officer positions with service apparel and linen company Best Manufacturing and men’s hosiery company Royce Hosiery Mills, which manufacturers and markets Dockers®, Levi’s® and other private-label men’s hosiery brands.

Hugh serves on the board of directors of a number of consumer durable companies, including Spectrum Brands (NYSE: SPB), Playpower Inc. and Laces Group Inc.

He holds a B.A. Degree in American Government from Dartmouth College, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.
