Local’s Look | NYC

Wednesday, April 12th, 2017

This spring, we’re dreaming of living the bicoastal life. With the launch of the newest LA and NY bottles from our coveted Destination Collection, we went straight to the source for the latest and greatest both cities have to offer. Brooklyn babe Hélène Heath shows us around her city, talking Manhattanite must-haves, her choice reading spots and city hangouts only the locals know about.

What brought you to NYC?

A gravitational pull. I just knew this is where I needed to be.

Describe your style in 3 words.

Unfussy, tomboy, uncalculated.

What’s the best style advice you’ve ever received?

If you don’t feel good in something, don’t wear it.

What’s your morning routine like?

I am not a morning person at all, so I need a lot of time to wake up! I usually get up around 7 and drink a very large coffee, check social media and work messages. Sometimes I’ll do a little laundry, then I go for a short jog before getting ready for the day.

How do you like to unwind?

Usually with a glass of wine!

What do you keep in your S’well?

Ice cold water. Or sometimes rosé in the summer.

What’s a NYC spot that only locals would know about?

There’s a great movie theatre in my neighborhood called Nitehawk. You can have dinner and cocktails while you’re watching your movie. They only play indie flicks, and always have food and drink specials that are based on the movies that are currently playing.

What’s your go-to happy hour spot?

Spritzenhaus or Nights & Weekends, both in Greenpoint. Black Flamingo in Williamsburg also has a great happy hour.

What’s the best restaurant you just discovered?

I recently had a really excellent meal at Rider in Williamsburg. Their cocktails were also delicious!

Best way/place to workout in your city?

There are bike paths everywhere around Brooklyn and Manhattan, which makes it a really killer way to get some exercise while doing some exploring when the weather is nice. Other than that, running in either Central Park or Prospect Park is always a really pleasant way to get a workout in.

What’s your favorite reading spot in your city?

When it’s nice out, I like to just head to either McCarren or McGolrick park and read while laying on a blanket. If the weather isn’t cooperating, I like to perch myself at Devocion, a very cute coffee shop in Williamsburg.

How does your city influence your style?

Everyone in New York really embraces their sense of individuality, which pushes me to embrace mine. I love people-watching in this city, it never gets old and never fails to inspire.
