Going Plastic-Free in the Maldives

Wednesday, May 16th, 2018

If you don’t follow Anna Lisa and Porter, of @recesscity, you might want to start—especially if you’re interested in a daily dose of adventure. The couple—adorably, they’ve been together since middle school—has dedicated their life together to traveling the world, promoting a conscious lifestyle through ethical fashion, and trying, always, to re-instill the desire to have less as they experience more.

On their recent trip to the Maldives, we let Anna Lisa and Porter take the reins of the S’well Instagram, documenting the infamous white sand beaches and sunset swims. (Both of them are photographers, so their feeds are, well, stunning.) They also became inspired in a bigger way.

“There’s no better place to talk anti-plastic,” they wrote. “Even on these pristine beaches, plastic washes in on nearly a daily basis. On a bigger scale, these islands could face catastrophic risks with ocean level rises. it’s so important to act in a way that’s in tune with the preservation of our planet. We love using our S’well Bottles because they help us avoid purchasing plastic bottles.”
